The Sound that Keeps Mothers Up at Night

Too many mothers across Burundi don't sleep as soundly as they should.

They hear the buzz of malaria-carrying mosquitoes and worry that a bite will transmit this deadly disease to their child.

Malaria is a leading cause of death of children under 5 in Burundi.  Many more become gravely ill with this disease.

It can keep parents away from work for weeks, whether in a field or at an office, and children miss many days of school each year.

But this is a disease that is preventable.  All it takes is a simple insecticide-treated bed net to give a mother a peaceful night of sleep because she knows that her children are safe from malaria.
