A Community Covered in Nets

The sad truth is Dédé is a malaria veteran. She would typically suffer from malaria five times a year, stopping her from caring for her two children or working in the fields.

Two years ago, volunteers visited her rural community in Kozah, Togo to explain how mosquitoes spread malaria at night from family to family while everyone sleeps.

They explained how long-lasting, insecticide-treated bed nets like those provided by Nothing But Nets supporters could protect her family from this disease—which takes the life of a child every 60 seconds.

"These nets have changed our lives," Dédé explains. "For the first time, we are all sleeping through the night without being bitten by mosquitoes. Since we are using these nets, none of us get sick. My children no longer end up missing school because of malaria."
